Happy Monday Spiders! Hope you’re staying warm and enjoying time in the snow! There are always events on and off campus to enjoy, learn more about them below.

New Museum Exhibitions

The Harnett Museum is opening “Abigail DeVille: A Mourning.” The exhibition opens to the public on Jan. 30 and runs until Apr. 25. The museum will be offering an exhibition tour with Abigail DeVille on Friday, Jan. 30 at 12 p.m. which is free and open to everyone. Museum hours and information about this exhibition can be found here!

Another exhibition is on the way! From Jan. 30 to Apr. 25, The Harnett Museum is opening “Politics of Place.” This exhibition features the work of nine contemporary filmmakers and two artist collectives who explore the various ways specific geographic locations influence — and cause us to negotiate — how we make meaning and understand, or contest, ideas of identity and power. The work of the filmmakers will be shown on a two week rotation. More information here!

Last but not least, the exhibition “BLACK WORK: Absence/Absorption” will also premiere on Jan. 30 and end on Apr. 25. This exhibition asks a deep question about the color black and how it is portrayed in mainly material, spatial and perceptual practices rather than race or identity alone. More information about this exhibit can be found here!

Frostival

SpiderBoard is hosting Frostival, a fun winter event with lots of activities to be announced. This event will be on Jan. 30 on the Westhampton Green from 7-10 p.m. Check out SpiderBoard’s Instagram for more information!

Spirituality in Sacred Spaces: Rest and Rainbows

The Chaplaincy’s Spiritual but Not Religious (SBNR) office is hosting the event “Spirituality in Sacred Spaces: Rest and Rainbows” on Jan. 27 from 12-1 p.m. Come to the event for an exhale and moment of rest, with the practice of basking in the rainbows that the stained glass creates in the Cannon Memorial Chapel. Stay for the whole time or just five minutes! Registration and information about this event can be found here!
