The Shanghai Quartet took the stage in a tiny, black-box theater in University of Richmond’s Booker Hall of Music more than a decade ago. For two years after, the Shanghai Quartet pushed for a larger acoustical space. Booker Hall now offers much more than a cramped, black-box theater and has held many performances.

It was 2009 when the life of Carolyn Powell, former dietitian at University of Richmond, changed forever. On the night of July 5, Powell suffered from cardiac arrest that stopped her heart for more than 15 minutes. Today, she visited Richmond to sign copies of her book, “The Heart to Survive,” at the University Bookstore.

University of Richmond's Pi Beta Phi chapter hosted its annual spring philanthropy event Ballin' for Books Wednesday, March 26. Danielle O'Hara, Pi Phi's philanthropy chairwoman, said the sorority raised about $1,200, more than twice the amount raised last year.

Social media confounds me. LinkedIn, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Foursquare, Google Plus+, Meetup, Flickr, Wordpress, MySpace, StumbleUpon and Facebook.
