While I was leaving the University of Delaware last weekend, I was reminded that at one point this year, Richmond was ranked in the top five in the nation. After the team's seventh straight loss, a loss that wasn't as close as the 24-10 score indicated, it was easy to forget that fact.

Blue Hens tailback Andrew Pierce rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Blue Hens. The University of Massachusetts scored 21 points during the first quarter en route to a 28-7 victory Saturday afternoon. It is Richmond's fourth-straight loss, all coming in Colonial Athletic Association play. Richmond was in range of a long field goal with under a minute left in the game, but quarterback Aaron Corp was sacked for 11 yards to put the Spiders at the Maine 44-yard line. His next two passes were incomplete to seal the victory for the Black Bears.

TOWSON, Md. — With the game tied, DJ Stoven kicked a game-winning 27-yard field goal for Towson University as time expired to hand the University of Richmond its third-consecutive loss, 31-28.
HARRISONBURG, Va. — As James Madison University coach Mickey Matthews entered his post-game press conference after his team's 31-7 victory over the University of Richmond, his visor on his head was so low that it nearly covered his eyes and made him look like a villain. After the Spiders put up just 118 yards of offense, there was no other way the Spider offense could look at him.
Q: How have you felt about your team's performance this season?
The University of Richmond football team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday evening, 45-43, to the University of New Hampshire. The game was the Colonial Athletic Association conference opener for both teams. The Spiders scored 20 points during a fourth-quarter comeback attempt, but the Wildcats scored 28 points during the second quarter, which proved too much for the home team to overcome.
There was no apologizing after Duke just like there wasn't any after defeating Wagner. Nor was there any apologies given after Richmond hung on during the fourth quarter to defeat Virginia Military Institute.
