About 70 students converged Friday at Jepson Hall wielding signs in protest of alumna Victoria Cobb, president of The Family Foundation of Virginia, who is one of two graduates this year to receive an award presented annually by the Jepson School of Leadership Studies.

• During West Virginia University's Final Four game against Duke University, star-senior Da'Sean Butler injured his knee on a drive to the basket. Coach Bob Huggins then crouched next to the injured Mountaineer in a heartfelt effort to comfort him. Perhaps too heartfelt, as the sequence then went from an awww moment to an awwwkward one when Huggins gradually got closer and closer to his fallen player, even throwing a few ginger cheek caresses in for good measure. Luckily, an assistant coach was present to inform Huggins that a knee injury did not require mouth-to-mouth.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. hosted a stepping competition April 2 between Richmond's six Panhellenic sororities: Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Pi Beta Phi. The sororities were competing for a $700 prize, which was won by Delta Delta Delta.

• One of the coaches in college basketball's biggest rivalry just channeled Benedict Arnold down along Tobacco Road. University of North Carolina coach Roy Williams said he thought Duke University could win the NCAA tournament, a comment that many Tar Heel faithful consider treason. Watch out for torches and pitchforks, Roy, especially after this season's dismal record and NIT appearance.

Students from Allies 2010 and Common Ground organized a "Mix It Up Day" Thursday, Feb. 18, a day in which students could cross boundaries and get to know new people. The event took place in the Westhampton Dining Room from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Black Student Alliance held its annual Black Arts Festival on Feb. 20 at the Pier. The event featured many bands and dance groups both from the University of Richmond and the general Richmond community. Performers included Off the Cuff, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Ngoma African Dance Company, the Larri Branch Agenda and Ban Caribe. Richmond area vendors were also on hand to sell beauty products, shirts and accessories. The event was co-sponsored by Multicultural Student Union, the Black History Month Committee, the Office of the Chaplaincy and the Office of Student Development.

The Young Graduate Council of the Greater Richmond Alumni Chapter hosted "Dress For Success: Building Your Professional Wardrobe" at the Banana Republic in Stony Point Fashion Park. Attendees learned about trends in interview attire, networked with alumni and were given coupons to shop.

For the second-consecutive year, Michael Christian, author of the international bestseller "The Art of Kissing," came to the University of Richmond. Members of the university community packed the Tyler Haynes Commons on Feb. 10 to see students demonstrate kisses and perform short skits while Christian explained the types of kisses, the technique involved and the ways men's and women's preferences differ, which was revealed through research for his book.

The Solidarity Action For Haiti Committee (SAFH) hosted a Solidarity Action for Haiti Day to raise awareness and funds for Haiti. A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the country on Jan. 12, destroying most of the country's buildings, including homes, schools and hospitals. SAFH hoped to involve the university community in making a connection to the Haitian people and their culture.
