Waking up in the middle of the night, flicking on the light and finding a centipede crawling along the dorm room wall is not something most University of Richmond students expect.

Editor's Note: The Collegian is posting updates from online sports editor Andrew Prezioso, who is in Providence, R.I., for the 2010 NCAA Tournament. Richmond, the No. 7 seed in the South Region, will be competing in the tournament for the first time since 2004 and will No. 10 St. Mary's College in the first round.

Walking to class at 7:30 a.m. can be a pretty solitary experience. It's often cold (especially this winter), and usually the only other humans we see are a few class-goers. Oh, and a lot of athletes, many of whom started their days between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., before the sun got up.

A late night at Boatwright Memorial Library usually means snuggling on couches with lattes and laptops, but for the members of Givology Spiders it means planning how to raise funds to keep a child in Uganda in school.

The University of Richmond football team has yet to lose a game this season, but if the Spiders want to secure at least a share of the Colonial Athletic Association title this week, they will need to beat No. 4 Villanova University on Saturday at UR Stadium.

Even though you've never been up at 5:30 a.m. for football practice, lifting weights, running, stretching, being yelled at, yelling back - during the summer (when many of you were on a beach, in Europe, traveling or just preparing to come/come back to this most beautiful campus), YOU can truly MAKE A DIFFERENCE if you come this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (NOT 3:30 p.m.) to the grand ole lady, UR Stadium.

I have expressed disdain in the past for the lack of sports support from the student body and have had trouble understanding the lack of interest. Being at Duke Saturday night, I was excited to see hundreds of red-shirted students standing and cheering for the team and actually joining some of our vocal alumni leading cheers and encouraging others. It was Chattanooga all over again.

In the past, Richmond students have been criticized in the Richmond Times-Dispatch and The Collegian for poor turnout at athletic events. But the trend of lackluster fan support may be changing.

Your experience at this university is what you make of it. There are some things that you get used to; there are other things that you learn to avoid. And if you ever get outside of the bubble, there are some things about this university that you learn to appreciate. Adapted from the ubiquitous "25 Random Things About Me" Facebook lists, below is a list of observations, complaints and general (college) life lessons unique to the home of the Richmond Spiders:
