ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- The stunned look on Richmond junior Kevin Anderson's face said it all. His runner from in the lane was in-and-out and instead of only a one-point Temple lead, Richmond continued to trail 49-46. The Spiders ended up losing to the Owls 56-52 in Sunday afternoon's Atlantic 10 final in Atlantic City, N.J.

Walking to class at 7:30 a.m. can be a pretty solitary experience. It's often cold (especially this winter), and usually the only other humans we see are a few class-goers. Oh, and a lot of athletes, many of whom started their days between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., before the sun got up.

When University of Richmond senior shooting guard David Gonzalvez walked out of the locker room after the Spiders' victory against Fordham University last week, several of Richmond's youngest fans were waiting, pen in hand, to ask him for his autograph.

(09/10/09 8:00pm)
I have expressed disdain in the past for the lack of sports support from the student body and have had trouble understanding the lack of interest. Being at Duke Saturday night, I was excited to see hundreds of red-shirted students standing and cheering for the team and actually joining some of our vocal alumni leading cheers and encouraging others. It was Chattanooga all over again.
