Members of the Richmond College class of 2013 took part in the annual Investiture Ceremony Sunday. The ceremony featured a class photograph, a walk across campus, reflective speeches by upperclassmen and the signing of the Honor Code.

Hundreds of people gathered Sunday night for two candlelight services, held at Cannon Memorial Chapel. The service, now in its 35th year, featured performances from a bell choir, University of Richmond's Schola Cantorum and the university's women's chorale. Led by Acting Chaplain Kate O'Dwyer Randall, the service included readings from Bible passages and a rendition of "Silent Night," accompanied by a congregation-wide candlelighting.

It was 1974 when David Burhans became the university's first chaplain, charged by then-President E. Bruce Heilman with attending to the spiritual needs of the university community. The Office of the Chaplaincy was born.
