Nearly 50 students, staff members and professors attended a reception to honor professor Lee Carleton in the Whitehurst Living Room Thursday afternoon.
At first glance, the website for the Digital Scholarship Lab looks unaffiliated with the University of Richmond. There is no Richmond crest, no red or blue color scheme and no sign of a spider.

Last weekend my mother told me that our 78-year-old neighbor in Charlotte was dying of a brain tumor. First, I was struck by the dull vacancy of my mind trying to wrap itself around such news. Second, I was struck by the fact that my mother waited several days after finding out herself to tell me. She said she didn't want to upset me, even though she had been feeling down for days.

Philip's Continental Lounge, better known as Phil's among Richmond students, will be forced to relocate when its lease expires on June 30, 2011. Phil's restaurant and bar has been located at 5704 Grove Ave. in the Shops at Libbie & Grove for over 72 years. When Kyle Measell and his wife took ownership of Phil's eight years ago, they introduced Thursday night karaoke, which exploded in popularity among students. Measell said he would be sorry to make the move, but was thankful for the continued support from Richmond's student body.
Nine seniors were honored from the University of Richmond lacrosse team before its 12-6 victory Friday afternoon at Robins Stadium against Saint Joseph's University. The seniors have now tied their best start in Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 5-0 record, the same mark as their freshman year when they started conference play 5-0 before losing an overtime game to George Washington University.
Senior citizens put on their best dancing shoes for Alpha Phi Omega's 18th-annual prom, themed "Great Gatsby," on April 6 in the Alice Haynes Room.

The University of Richmond football team held its annual Spring Football Game Saturday afternoon at Robins Stadium to bring an end to its spring practice. The defense won the game, 54-26, with a modified scoring system.
Richmond's club crew teams competed in the Occoquan Sprints Regatta in Fairfax, Va., at the Sandy Run Marina on Sunday, April 3, 2011. This was the team's second regatta of the season. On April 16, the team will compete in the Kerr Cup, in Philadelphia, Pa, the last regatta of the season. The team practices Monday through Friday at Robious Landing Park on the James River to prepare for regattas.
