Peay's first season with men's soccer ends with 5-11-2 record

The University of Richmond men's soccer team finished its season 5-11-2, playing all year under the direction of two new coaches. Head coach Clint Peay and assistant coach Todd Herman were new to the Richmond men's soccer program when the season began. Before coming to Richmond, Peay was an assistant coach at George Mason University, Davidson College and Georgetown University; Herman also served as an assistant coach at Davidson. "It was a much more enjoyable season under the new coaches," team captain and senior Fynn Glover said, adding that it had definitely been a transitional season as well. Peay said this season gave him a chance to instill his philosophies into the team's training, and for the players to understand what was expected of them. "It's a continual building process," he said. Not all of the players were thrilled about having new coaches. "You have to prove yourself again," senior Stephen Chareczko said, comparing it to starting over again as a freshman. If players had questions, Chareczko said, the coaches would seem very distant and would barely offer any positive or negative criticism. Senior Malcolm Joseph said class conflicts caused problems for players during the season. "This year was not as well organized as the other years," Joseph said.

It was a new season, but it was the same Kevin Anderson that led the University of Richmond men's basketball team to a season opening 65-53 win over Lehigh University. The junior guard blocked a three-pointer from Lehigh junior Prentice Small with 6:18 left in the game and sparked a 11-5 run for Richmond.

Two-Minute Drill: 11/12/09

? During the final seconds of Comcast SportsNet's broadcast of the Richmond football game against Villanova this weekend, a voice was heard on the TV dropping the f-bomb and whistling the tune of Europe's classic hit "The Final Countdown." ... Ironically, that was a good song choice, because the potty-mouth had likely just seen his job go down with Richmond's winning streak. ? Dallas Mavericks owner and madman Mark Cuban said he was interested in buying the Los Angeles Dodgers if the right deal were available.

Yankees' long road to World Series victory No. 27

The pinstripes did it again. Last Wednesday the New York Yankees won their 27th World Series title by defeating the Phillies 7-3 in Game 6. If you are a New York Mets or Boston Red Sox fan, this was probably the most painful World Series you have had to witness - but you definitely could not keep your eyes off the television.
