The University of Richmond field hockey team lost its second game in a row this past Friday against the La Salle Explorers.
Coming off a loss last week against Hampton University, the University of Richmond football team played against the University of Maine Black Bears at Robins Stadium Oct. 7 for breast cancer awareness.
The women’s team competed in the 5K event and placed 2nd overall out of 19 schools. Only ahead of the Spiders on the women’s side was The University of Akron.
The Bonnies eventually struck first, scoring off a penalty kick just over 30 minutes into the first half and shifting the momentum to St. Bonaventure to close out the first 45 minutes in the match. The second half, though, belonged to the Spiders.
The Spiders’ defense slowly began to crumble as it gave up several mid to long completions. Soon after, the Pirates’ running back ended up scoring a 2-yard rushing touchdown to make the score 14-0.

The Spiders won their third consecutive game of the season with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Lions. UR attempted 34 shots in the game, 11 coming in the first period.
From there, the Spiders were able to grow into the game, dominating large swaths of the first half after their slow start and testing St. Joseph’s keeper numerous times.

The University of Richmond women’s soccer team lost 3-2 against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on President’s Field in a back-and-forth game on Sept. 10.
UR’s loss against American was the team’s second overtime loss in just three games, so this time around, the Spiders’ offense came out prepared and with a sense of urgency from the get go.
Coming off the interception, the Spiders’ drive ended in another field goal attempt, but this time it was blocked, making Lopez 0-for-2 on field goals.
