The Spiders were firing on all cylinders in their season opener Nov. 6 as the University of Richmond men’s basketball team took care of business at the Robins Center, defeating the Virginia Military Institute 93-75.
Playing at storied Cameron Indoor Stadium on Coach K Court, the University of Richmond women’s basketball team opened its 2023-2024 season with an 83-53 loss to Duke University Nov. 6.
The Spiders closed out their fall season with their first top-five team finish of the season.
Since 2020, the Spiders have posted three consecutive seasons with a winning record.

The Bonnies eventually struck first, scoring off a penalty kick just over 30 minutes into the first half and shifting the momentum to St. Bonaventure to close out the first 45 minutes in the match. The second half, though, belonged to the Spiders.
The Spiders’ defense slowly began to crumble as it gave up several mid to long completions. Soon after, the Pirates’ running back ended up scoring a 2-yard rushing touchdown to make the score 14-0.
