Men's golf prepares for tournaments, end of the year

While the rest of campus activities wind down and the end of the school year approaches, the University of Richmond men's golf team is working hard to prepare for its conference championship tournament. The team's head coach, Adam Decker, said the men had been playing well at home this season. "At any time, any one of them can step up and play really well for us," he said. The Spiders play in the Wofford Intercollegiate tournament in Spartanburg, S.C.

New methods prepare women's tennis for A-10s

The University of Richmond women's tennis team is taking advantage of an innovative fitness strategy and team unity to try and claim its third consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference title in Charlottesville, Va., this weekend. As the top-seeded team, the Spiders are going into the tournament expecting to win.

NFL Draft nears for former Spiders

University of Richmond graduates and former football players Justin Rogers and Martin Parker, have been preparing for the NFL draft, which will take place April 28 to April 30 in New York City. Parker, a defensive lineman, said the best outcome would be to hear his name called on TV. "It really doesn't really matter what I wear," he said.

There were many moments in Brittani Shells' career that felt like a Hollywood film. The University of Richmond women's basketball senior guard scored 2,029 points in her career, more than any other player in program history, but the most important part of her game is not in the stat book.

Men's lacrosse suffers growing pains

As the Richmond men's club lacrosse team moves closer to varsity status, several team members said they were becoming a stronger team, despite players recently quitting after realizing they could not commit to a varsity schedule. The team, started in 2010 with 37 members, and has lost six players during the last two weeks.

This weekend as I watched the Richmond baseball team take on St. Bonaventure University, I was reminded of my childhood. There was something about the red and blue uniforms that took me back to Turner Field, "Home of the Braves." My dad took my two younger sisters and me to an Atlanta Braves game when I was about eight.

Women's lacrosse confident for A-10 play

If you had been looking for the women's lacrosse team practicing for the Atlantic-10 conference Monday, March 22 you would have been out of luck. The coaches surprised the team with a spur of the moment bowling trip instead of practice to relax the players going into conference play starting on the first, junior Caitlin Fifield said. The team played an intense preseason schedule with several top-20 opponents in preparation for A-10s and a shot at a top-20 ranking, Fifield said.
