Two hundred and thirty students did not receive a negative COVID-19 test result before the first day of the fall semester, Vice President and General Counsel Shannon Sinclair said. Students who registered for in-person classes and did not get their results on time had to retest on Aug. 28, according to an email sent to the affected students by the Student Health Center on Aug. 27.

My first film of 2015 was the action spy movie “Kingsman: The Secret Service.” It is a bloody, brilliant film directed by Matthew Vaughn, and starring Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and newcomer Taron Egerton. My first impressions of the film, based on the trailer that was released last year, were to put it mildly, not good. Those fears about the film were only further developed after the 2014 opening date was pushed back into 2015, generally not a good sign. But, after hearing some strong word of mouth, I decided to forgo my expectations and dive into this as my first new film of the year. I am so glad I did.

I have never been as inspired as I have this past semester. As a journalism major, I sometimes find myself walking out of class feeling more determined about an assignment or moved by a piece we had to read for the following class, but I have never felt such excitement about the future as I have these past five months.

I was sitting in the kitchen Monday morning with the radio on when I first heard the news: a man had entered a café in Sydney’s central business district and was holding hostages. I was living with a host family far out in the suburbs of Sydney at this point, but the siege was occurring ten minutes from my old apartment in the heart of downtown. That morning, my host had gone to her office, which was located in the area. One of my housemates contacted her to make sure she was all right, and she replied that she was fine, but her building was on lockdown. We did not know if she would be allowed to come home that night. We kept the radio on for the rest of the day, but there was little news until early the next morning.

I’m finally back after a couple of weeks away
and I will be reviewing the last two episodes of “The Walking Dead” half-season,
which I give a combined 3 out of 5 stars.
(12/13/14 10:41pm)
Anthony dribbles the clock out and Richmond wins 54-41. Jones led the Spiders with 11 points. Nelson-Ododa's presence on defense made it difficult for Howard to get any clear looks around the rim. This was not an offensively smooth game for either team, but Richmond was able to muscle its way to victory.

Another week, and another rock-solid episode of "The
Walking Dead.” It’s becoming almost
boring reviewing the show because of how much fun I have had with this season
so far.
(11/22/14 5:39pm)
As the final buzzer sounds, the Richmond Spiders take the win over the High Point Panthers. The final score is 80-56. Almost every Richmond player made a difference in this game. Kendall Anthony scored a team-high 22 points and went 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

“Interstellar” is a new
film from director Christopher Nolan starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne
Hathaway and Jessica Chastain; a five-star movie in my opinion. The film is a crowning achievement in the
sci-fi genre, but one that falls just short of masterpiece status.
“Interstellar” deals with such gigantic ideas such as our place in the cosmos,
while also contemplating the meaning of human life when our planet
cannot sustain us anymore.

“Birdman” encapsulates the very best of what cinema can do — the film is a breathless whirlwind through one man’s quest to achieve artistic relevance. Michael Keaton stars as Riggan Thomson, an aging actor trying to escape the shadow of his former superhero persona. He attempts to do this by writing, directing and starring in a Broadway stage production of Raymond Chandler’s short story, “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love.”

This has been the best three-episode stretch that "The Walking Dead" has had in some time, possibly ever. I am giving episode three 4.2 out of 5 stars. WARNING: There are full spoilers for this week’s episode below.
