University of Richmond cross country runner junior Robert Gunia won the annual Walt Disney World 10k race with a time of 32:42 on Jan. 7, in Orlando, Florida.
The University of Richmond men’s cross country team won the Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday, March 5, for the first time since 2010, with head coach Steve Taylor subsequently being awarded the “Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year”.

Although the University of Richmond’s cross country teams’ seasons are postponed to the spring because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the teams are still finding a way to compete. In absence of a fall season, the teams have been competing in team time trials around campus. Time trials are simulated running activities that are used to measure a runner's performance outside of an organized race.
The University of Richmond men’s cross country team wrapped up its indoor track season and is hoping for future racing possibilities.

Elaine Derricott, former University of Richmond assistant track and field coach and Richmond native, resigned last month and then accepted a similar role at Monmouth University.

Sarah Hipwell, a junior on the University of Richmond’s women’s cross-country and track teams, was feeling a familiar ache in her leg during practice once again. A visit to the sports medicine office in the Weinstein Center confirmed her fear: another femoral stress fracture.
