Sophomore linebacker Eric Wright has become a respected leader on the University of Richmond's football team, not only because of his talent, but also because of his moral character and religious devotion.
Despite a fourth-quarter comeback by James Madison, Richmond was able to hold on for the win, 35-29, on Saturday in front of a sold-out Robins Stadium. The upset of the second-ranked Dukes serves as Danny Rocco's signature win in his first season as Spiders head coach. The star of the game for UR was sophomore quarterback Michael Strauss, who threw for 4 touchdowns in his first collegiate start. He'll start the rest of the season because incumbent starter John Laub suffered a broken ankle.
Beating the second-ranked team in the country seemed unbelievable for unranked Richmond, and a fourth-quarter James Madison comeback nearly left the Spiders with a heartbreaking loss.

Richmond football recorded its first victory in its last 10 tries on Saturday, defeating Gardner-Webb University, 41-8. The win also serves as Danny Rocco's first as Spiders head coach.
