Members of the Westhampton College class of 2011 participated in the 2010 Ring Dance ceremony Feb. 6 at the Jefferson Hotel in downtown Richmond.
My daughter Meaghan was the star of the weekend as the University of Richmond's junior year Ring Dance took center stage last February. It is a wonderful event born of a longstanding tradition of women's pride at one of America's great educational institutions in one of our country's great southern cities.

Westhampton Lake has been full of the expected wildlife, such as fish and algae, but also contains many unexpected objects, such as stone benches and even cars.
The rabid fox. The studious raccoon, trying to get into the library. The bats and the opossums, out and about with you every Friday night while you're looking for a good party. Who can forget the ducks, who ALL decide to make their mass exodus from the lake to the big hill in front of the library as soon as they see you coming, rushing to your 8:15 a.m. class?
Arts Around the Lake featured approximately 100 local area artists who displayed and sold their artwork Sunday around Westhampton Lake. The Greater Richmond Alumni Center sponsored the event.
Members of the Westhampton College class of 2013 took part in the annual Proclamation Night ceremony Sunday, Sept. 20. The ceremony featured a class photograph, a walk across campus, reflective speeches by upperclassmen and the signing of the Honor Code.
University of Richmond seniors gathered Saturday night around Westhampton Lake for a candlelight ceremony, which included musical performances, student speaker Abigail Cohen and a fireworks display.
One University of Richmond professor will give a lecture about what he or she would want to tell his or her students if it were his or her last lecture.
A female student reported being raped on campus on Jan. 12 and is choosing not to press charges, University of Richmond police said.

The Westhampton Center construction began first and will end first. It started after Thanksgiving and is projected to end in August or September 2009. The Robins Foundation granted $3 million of the $3.6 million center, and more than 200 supporters have closed the gap in gifts. The contractor is RVA Construction and Smith McClane Architects is the architect.
