&mbull; Outspoken athletes Manny Ramirez and Randy Moss both said they thought next season would be their last with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New England Patriots. ... Talking about leaving the team next season, months before this season even starts? Maybe they should focus on winning now instead of how much money they can make later.

&mbull; More than 9,000 tickets were sold for Richmond basketball's 74-70 win against George Washington on Saturday, meaning about 400 fans would have been unable to get tickets at E. Claiborne Robins Stadium for a football game. ... All right, time to stop using UR &mbull; Stadium as a measuring stick for Robins Stadium. The place might sell out every game next season and students who pay $50,000 a year to watch a simulcast in the Brown-Alley Room aren't going to be pleased.

&mbull; Veteran running backs LaDanian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook were both released this week. ... Both have had great careers, but neither has a Super Bowl ring, so before they hang up the spikes, they'll probably be heading to a winning team near you.

&mbull; The trademark glasses of legendary Penn State head coach Joe Paterno sold for $9,000 at an auction earlier this week. ... Nine grand may seem steep, but with the thickness of those glasses, you could see the Xs and Os in a playbook in 3-D, or use them to prove that Pluto deserves its planet status back.
