Athlete of the week: basketball’s Trey Davis

ABOUT THE GAME

Trey Davis is a pivotal player in Richmond’s basketball program this season. In the first six games, Davis averaged six points per game. He has shot the ball at a rate of 52 percent from the field and 67 percent from 3-point range. Davis leads the team in steals with six so far and is second on the team in assists with 12. In the 55-50 loss to Northern Iowa University, Davis had his first double-double of the season. He scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Last night in the one-point victory over the William & Mary Tribe, Davis grabbed five defensive rebounds and contributed two assists.

Q: When did you start playing basketball?

A: I started playing basketball when I was 5 years old.

Q: What’s been your best athletic moment to date?

A: Winning a state championship in high school and beating #12 UMASS at home last year.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?

A: My pregame rituals are listening to music and watching YouTube highlights.

Q: Who’s the best singer on the team?

A: We have no good singers.

Q: If you had a spirit animal what would it be? Why?

A: A lion. We have the same mindset.

Q: Do you have a favorite player on a different team at Richmond? Why?

A: Gen Okoro (women's basketball) and Ashley Riefner (women's soccer). They are both great athletes.

Q: What do you see yourself doing in ten years?

A: Playing basketball professionally or being a successful business man.

Q: Do you have any role models? Who are they and why?

A: My role models are my parents and my grandparents. They keep me motivated.

Q: What are you afraid of?

A: I’m afraid of not being successful in life.

Q: What is something that most people don’t know about you?

A: Most people don't know that I like listening to R&B/Slow Jam music and I love watches.

Q: What’s one thing you can do better than Coach Mooney?

A: I can dress better than him...
