Live blog: Richmond vs La Salle

Richmond wins 83-61, an easy win for the Spiders. They'll have a tougher test on Saturday against VCU.

4:36 -- Richmond leads 76-56. This game is as good as done, but Cline continues to excite the crowd as he double clutches and makes a contested layup.

6:39 -- Richmond has built its lead thanks to a mini-takeover by Allen, who has 22 points on 9-11 shooting. The Spiders lead 69-51.

13:14 -- Cline is starting to catch fire. With back to back lay-ins, he now has 10 points to join Wood, Allen and Jones in double figures. Spiders lead 52-39.

16:35 -- Pretty dry game here in Richmond. Back and forth now, Richmond leads by 12. Relatively quiet night in the Robins Center. One noteworthy stat though: Richmond is holding La Salle to just 34.5 percent on its shots. Very low mark thanks to good defense.

19:20 -- Richmond's ability to pass to Allen inside, coupled with his ability to finish around the rim, has been an asset all season. He scores the first points of the second half and Richmond leads by 15.

The first half ends with 14 made 3-pointers between both teams. Cline ends the half with a layup off a pass from Jones and Richmond leads 40-27. Wood has 12 points, Jones has 11 and Allen has nine. Since trailing 6-0 after four minutes, Richmond has outscored La Salle 40-21. Expect the Spiders to maintain their lead and win this game at home.

3:06 -- At the last media timeout of the half, Richmond leads 32-23. Wood has 12 points to lead the Spiders, and Allen has eight, plus seven rebounds.

5:40 -- After a short dry spell, Jones makes a 3 to extend Richmond's lead. Spiders up 28-19.

7:00 -- La Salle is shooting with confidence from beyond the arc tonight. The Explorers now have six made 3s, all of their field goals. But Richmond has five, four from Marshall Wood, plus Allen under the basket. The Spiders lead by seven, 25-18.

12:00 -- It's raining 3s in the Robins Center tonight. La Salle hits another, Richmond hits two and the Spiders have narrowed the gap to 15-12. Allen has six points early.

14:05 -- Allen continues to do what he's done all year, working under the basket to earn easy points. La Salle hits yet another 3 though, and now leads 12-4.

15:20 -- Back to the basics for Richmond. TJ Cline passes inside to Terry Allen, who makes a spin move and lays it in. La Salle then responds with a 3-pointer to push its lead to 9-2.

16:20 -- That changed quickly. Cleon Roberts makes two 3s to build an early 6-0 lead for La Salle.

18:00 -- Through two minutes, the game is scoreless. Neither team can make a shot.

Deion Taylor will miss his second straight game tonight because of stiffness in his back that stems an injury that was operated on during his freshman year.

Hey everyone, I'm Charlie and I'll be blogging from the Robins Center during tonight's basketball game between Richmond and La Salle. The Spiders are trying to recover from an 0-2 start in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle will be trying to turn its season around after a 5-8 start. ShawnDre' Jones could be key in this game after his 35-point game against Fordham on Sunday. Stay tuned for live updates during the game, as we are about 15 minutes from tip-off.
