Rocco questioning future at Richmond ahead of playoff game, RTD reports

Richmond football coach Danny Rocco will weigh coaching options outside of University of Richmond after his team's playoff run ends, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Wednesday.

Rocco, now in his fifth season as Richmond's coach, has led the Spiders to three straight FCS playoff appearances and has not posted a losing season in his 11 years as an FCS coach.

One potential landing spot for Rocco seems to be University of Delaware, another CAA team, according to The News Journal of Wilmington, Delaware.

“...I do believe that I will have some options when the season is over," Rocco told the Times-Dispatch. "And I just have to be able to weigh those options and make the best decision that I can make.”

Rocco's comments came just four days before the Spiders travel to North Dakota for their second-round playoff game. Rocco said, however, that he did not think the discussion about his future was affecting his team's preparation for North Dakota.

When asked why he would consider leaving Richmond, Rocco had a simple answer.

“I think my most singular uncertainty is the vision.”

Richmond plays North Dakota at 6 p.m. on Saturday in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The teams have never played before.
