DENVER — The No. 12 seed University of Richmond upset No. 5 Vanderbilt, 69-66, Thursday afternoon at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. Senior Kevin Anderson scored nine straight points as Richmond went on a 9-0 run to turn a three-point deficit into Richmond's first lead of the game at 51-48 with 12:04 left to play in the game. "We don't want to be one-and-done," Anderson said. "We're excited for this win. We want to keep looking forward into this tournament, not just being satisfied with this win. ... We won one game, but didn't win the tournament. That's our ultimate goal."

As a native Richmonder, I have grown up knowing the Richmond vs. VCU basketball rivalry. Though it may not be as nationally well-known as, say, the Tobacco Road rivalry of Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill, this little East vs. West Cary Street throw down is always a crowd-pleaser. The Spiders' Saturday night romp was no exception.

March Madness, oh what to say. Quite frankly, for myself and many other students on campus, it is the best month sports has to offer (honorable mention: World Cup soccer). This season I feel an even closer connection to this amazing month, because our University of Richmond Spiders were a No. 7 seed in the 65-team field.
