The National Collegiate Lacrosse League named junior Dan Colosimo as an outstanding goalie in the April issue of Inside Lacrosse magazine. Colosimo was chosen by coaches, players and the director of the NCLL.
The University of Richmond football team will return to UR Stadium one more time on Saturday for its annual spring game. The Spiders, under the leadership of first-year head coach Latrell Scott, have been practicing since mid-March.
The University of Richmond baseball team rallied in the eighth inning to defeat Virginia Commonwealth University 8-6 on Tuesday night at The Diamond in the first game of the Farm Bureau Black & Blue Classic. It was Richmond's first win against VCU since an 8-6 victory on May 14, 2004, a game that was also played at The Diamond. Junior Billy Barber drove in the first run for the Spiders in the first inning with an RBI double that curled just inside the right-field line and scored sophomore Derek Boliek from second base.
It took Xavier University only one inning to outscore the University of Richmond baseball team in a fast-moving 4-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at Pitt Field. The Musketeers scored four times, including a three-run home run by senior Zac Richard, against junior Matt Trent, Richmond's starting pitcher, in the fourth inning.
Men's basketball coach Chris Mooney will sign a seven-year contract extension with the school on Monday that will keep him with the Spiders through 2017. The deal was first reported by ESPN's Andy Katz on his Twitter page and a report on FoxSports.com. The deal was announced by the athletic Web site shortly after the first reports on Friday night. Mooney has been linked to coaching jobs at other schools this offseason, most recently the job at Boston College.

Robert C. Dillard, chief of police, and Captain H. B. Norton, operations manager, confirmed that three University of Richmond baseball players charged with felonies were involved in the Gray Court thefts that occurred during Spring Break. The players, junior Andrew Lowry and freshmen Jacob Mayers and Blake Geiger, were arrested by Investigator Tim Mihalcoe on March 24, from thefts that occurred in Gray Court on March 8.

The members of the University of Richmond track team are looking forward to a fresh start with the outdoor season after a disappointing outcome at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships in February. The team had the worst finish in the conference in the nine years that coaches Lori and Steve Taylor have been at Richmond, Lori said.

As I sit here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon penning my last column as the sports editor for The Collegian, I can't help but think about how I got to this point. When I applied to college, I wanted to go to a school with two things: a strong athletic program and a broadcast journalism department.
