The University of Richmond baseball team rallied in the eighth inning to defeat Virginia Commonwealth University 8-6 on Tuesday night at The Diamond in the first game of the Farm Bureau Black & Blue Classic. Men's basketball coach Chris Mooney will sign a seven-year contract extension with the school on Monday that will keep him with the Spiders through 2017. The deal was first reported by ESPN's Andy Katz on his Twitter page and a report on FoxSports.com. The deal was announced by the athletic Web site shortly after the first reports on Friday night. Mooney has been linked to coaching jobs at other schools this offseason, most recently the job at Boston College.

Robert C. Dillard, chief of police, and Captain H. B. Norton, operations manager, confirmed that three University of Richmond baseball players charged with felonies were involved in the Gray Court thefts that occurred during Spring Break. The players, junior Andrew Lowry and freshmen Jacob Mayers and Blake Geiger, were arrested by Investigator Tim Mihalcoe on March 24, from thefts that occurred in Gray Court on March 8.
