Richmond ends season with loss to UNC-Wilmington in WNIT

The University of Richmond women's basketball season came to an end on St. Patrick's Day, fittingly to a team sporting green jerseys. The Spiders were unable to overcome their 31 turnovers as they fell to the lower-seeded University of North Carolina at Wilmington, 63-54, in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament Thursday night at the Robins Center. Richmond's leading scorer for the game was senior Crystal Goring with 17 points.

Football players speak to local high school students

On Tuesday night, University of Richmond football player Donte Boston and former teammate Kevin Grayson, RC '10, spoke to 22 players and the coaching staff from the George Wythe High School basketball program at a team dinner about the importance of academics. Boston, who was suspended indefinitely Wednesday for violating team rules, said he knew of the possible suspension before speaking with the basketball players, but decided to do it anyway.

Three football players arrested, three suspended from team

Three University of Richmond football players have been suspended indefinitely from the team, and another has left the school, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Wide receiver Donte Boston, junior, and linebacker Harry Lee Daniel, sophomore, have been deactivated until further notice, according to the report.

Spiders earn 12th seed, face Vanderbilt in Denver Thursday

The University of Richmond men's basketball team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament, but the recently crowned Atlantic-10 champions earned a surprisingly low 12th seed and will play Vanderbilt University during the first round in Denver on Thursday. The game will be broadcast on TBS at approximately 4:10 p.m., immediately following the 1:40 p.m.

Richmond wins Atlantic 10 title, secures NCAA bid

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. ? There is no more speculation, the University of Richmond is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the second-consecutive year. Richmond won the Atlantic 10 Conference's automatic bid by defeating the University of Dayton, 67-54, Sunday afternoon at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.

"I don't want to say too much because growing up, I always made fun of the coaches who cried at the podium," Mooney said when describing his team's effort in the University of Richmond's 58-54 victory in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon in Atlantic City, N.J.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. ? University of Richmond senior Dan Geriot wanted a jumping chest bump from fellow senior Justin Harper after Harper's emphatic one-hand dunk with about eight minutes left in Friday's Atlantic 10 Conference quarterfinal game against the University of Rhode Island.

Harper, Anderson, Smith earn Atlantic 10 Conference honors

Richmond has two first-team all-conference selections for the third time in school history. Seniors Kevin Anderson and Justin Harper were named to the first team all-Atlantic 10 Conference team, while fellow senior Kevin Smith was named to the A-10 all-defensive team. The voting was conducted among the 14 head coaches in the conference. The awards add to what has become one of the most successful classes in Richmond men's basketball history.
