TV to Watch For

Old Favorites

"Gossip Girl": Everything's changing for our favorite Upper East Siders. Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate, Dan and Vanessa are trying to survive life after high school, and Jenny's stepping into the role of Queen Bee. But season three does promise the return of Michelle Trachtenberg as Georgina, and the introduction of Hilary Duff as a movie star. It all begins during its new 9 p.m. time slot on Sept. 14 on The CW.

"Grey's Anatomy": The heartbreaking season five finale prompted a number of questions: Will George and Izzie be back for season six? Will Meredith and Derek get their dream wedding? Will Lexie and Mark move in together? Tune in to ABC at 9 p.m. on Sept. 24 to find out.

"House": How will House handle living in a psychiatric ward? How will Princeton-Plainsboro survive without him? Look for answers to these questions and more during the two-hour season six premiere on Fox at 8 p.m. on Sept. 21.

"The Office": The sixth season premieres at 9 p.m. on Sept. 17, and an hour-long special featuring the long-awaited marriage of Jim and Pam is just a few episodes away! In more exciting news, their baby is due to arrive during another hour-long episode scheduled for February 2010. Will the sight of the happy couple bring Dwight and Angela back together or drive them further apart?

"Saturday Night Live": The 35th season premieres at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 26, but the host and musical guest are still unannounced. NBC will also air a special segment of "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update" at 8 p.m. on Thursdays from Sept. 17 until Oct. 8, with Amy Poehler joining Seth Meyers to co-host "Weekend Update" during the first two episodes.

Newcomers

"The Cleveland Show": Cleveland's leaving Quahog with his son, moving to his hometown in Virginia, getting back together with his high-school sweetheart and becoming a stepfather to her two children. This "Family Guy" spin-off premieres on Fox at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, and you can keep watching to see the "Family Guy" season seven premiere at 9 p.m.

"Glee": The pilot originally aired in May, but Fox has chosen not to air the second episode until 8:58 p.m. on Sept. 9. The show follows a high school glee club and the teacher who's trying to lead it to nationals. The pilot, which will air again at 9 p.m. on Sept. 2, features a range of songs, three of which are already available on iTunes.

Latecomers

"Lost": ABC will not air episodes from the sixth and final season until early 2010, but the title of the premiere has been leaked — it's "LA X." You can now spend the next five months pondering the significance of those three letters, and the intentional space.

"24": The good news — Fox is kicking off season eight with a two-night, four-hour premiere. It's set in New York City and includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as one of six new series regulars. The bad news — you'll have to wait until 9 p.m. on Jan. 17, to see it.
