Media Timeout: 9/9/2010

• Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday that 2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush will be stripped of the award by the end of the month. The NCAA ruled that Bush received lavish gifts from two sports marketers hoping to sign him. Among the things he won't be forced to return: a Super Bowl ring, millions in endorsements and his pop-star status earned from dating Kim Kardashian. But cheaters never win, right?

• Venus Williams, pink glittery tennis outfit and all, is just one victory away from reaching the U.S. Open final for the first time since 2002 (when she was 22). The question isn't if Williams will make it to the finals, but rather, what kind of sparkly attire will she sport? And it is hoped she'll bring back the braids 'n' beads, so reminiscent of her 1994 debut at the awkward age of 14. Don't think a 30-year-old professional tennis player can still rock the braids 'n' beads? Let's stock up on some glow-in-the-dark ones for Lodges.

• Corey Pavin announced his captain's picks for the 2010 Ryder Cup Tuesday morning. Selected were Ryder Cup team veterans Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and Tiger Woods. Also chosen, 21-year-old Rickie Fowler. Pavin called his decision a "gut feeling," also known as the "cross your fingers and hope Tiger plays well" strategy.

• Richmond International Raceway plays host to NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races this Friday and Saturday. Yet most fans will be more concerned with racing and chasing beers and chicken nuggets than watching a bunch of cars zoom by a hot and loud track. That being said, one should start early and hydrate in order to watch the race, if your earbuds and liver can handle it.

• Donovan McNabb, quarterback of the Washington Redskins, said Tuesday his sprained ankle wasn't 100 percent, but it won't keep him from starting and leading the 'Skins into the season-opening battle royale against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night. The Cowgirls, I mean, Cowboys, are less than stellar, and we all like to poke fun at the Skins, but hey, at least the drama surrounding defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth makes for a better reality show than the UVa. football reality show. The series finale, which I'm sure everyone is absolutely DYING to see, is Monday, FYI.
