Letter to the editor: And to the community of the university

In light of the recent dialogue in the online edition of The Collegian, the Multi-faith Student Council would like to take the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the campus community. We are a recently formed group of students who strive to engage in respectful and meaningful conversations with the purpose of building relationships and learning from each other about our faiths.

Although our group is still young, we have already begun to develop an environment that fosters our goals of greater understanding and faithful inclusivity. It is important to remember, however, that when we fail to engage positively with others, it can lead to damaging misconceptions.

We have seen firsthand the consequences of misinformed assumptions made by people without an honest attempt to understand each others' beliefs. However, we have also witnessed the fruits of our endeavors through our interactions with the people around us both here on Richmond's campus and on our Pilgrimage to Israel.

We invite and encourage you to join us in building relationships with people of different faiths. If you would like to learn more about multi-faith dialogue and what it looks like on our campus, we invite you to join us for the Weinstein-Rosenthal Forum Monday, Nov. 14. Eboo Patel, the founder and president of the Interfaith Youth Core, will be leading workshops as well as giving a lecture at 7 p.m. in the Alice Jepson Theater in the Modlin Center.

If you would like to learn more about this and other opportunities, please visit chaplaincy.richmond.edu and if you have any questions, please email us at urmultifaith@gmail.com.
