The former editor-in-chief writes on The Collegian starting a new chapter

Dear readers,

Last week I ended my time as editor-in-chief. This week's edition is brought to you under the direction of Clayton Helms, the new editor-in-chief of The Collegian. I hope you will join me in supporting Clay and his staff as they begin a new year delivering exceptional news to the campus community.

With this new staff comes a fresh start -- a step toward a modern way of delivering the news. This step will begin during the third week of March with the unveiling of our entirely redesigned website at http://www.thecollegianur.com. The abilities of this website to provide breaking, relevant news updates will bring us to a new platform for sharing our Richmond experience across campus. This opportunity allows for aspiring journalists within our university to learn how to thrive in the modern-day newsroom. With that in mind, The Collegian's editorial board has motioned to move our news organization entirely online with the support of the journalism department at the university. This decision has been made in an effort to be modern, cost-efficient, green and most importantly, to deliver a better service to you - our loyal readership.

This March 6th edition will be the last print edition to be distributed around campus. After that, we ask that you follow and interact with us on our new website - one that we are very excited and proud to deliver to you.

I truly appreciate your understanding on this decision, and hope that you will continue to support The Collegian as it makes a significant step in its growth, both as a news outlet and a tool for aspiring student professionals working in the modern age.

Cordially,

Marina Askari
