We are committed to building a safe and inclusive campus community, and we are united in our opposition to all hateful and discriminatory acts toward African Americans, Muslims, Jews, women, Latinos, people with disabilities, LGBTQ people, people of color, and others. We pledge to defend the rights and liberties of our diverse and vibrant community and we urge others on campus and in the broader Richmond community to do the same.
We, the undersigned faculty and staff, unequivocally reject and condemn President Trump’s executive actions to: limit travel from seven Muslim countries, freeze the U.S. refugee program, and vilify immigrants who live and work peacefully in the United States. We stand ready to defend the rights and liberties of our diverse community and the rule of law upon which freedom and equality rest.
