There’s nothing quite like the Capital City Classic between the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University men’s basketball programs.
History was made at the Robins Center Feb. 28 as the University of Richmond women’s basketball team posted its first undefeated home record in the NCAA era with a 90-74 rout of Duquesne University.

Former Bucknell University head women’s basketball coach Aaron Roussell has been hired as the new University of Richmond head women’s basketball coach after the team parted ways with Michael Shafer last month.
Richmond scored two touchdowns in the final minute to complete a dramatic comeback against Saint Francis. Redshirt junior quarterback Kevin Johnson completed a 65-yard drive with a pass to senior receiver Tyler Wilkins to cut the Saint Francis lead to 29-27 with only two seconds left on the clock. In the game’s final play, Saint Francis attempted to lateral the ball multiple times, which resulted in a fumble. Junior Spider defensive end Maurice Jackson recovered the ball and ran it 29 yards for the touchdown and the victory.
