Despite a valiant effort Sunday by the Richmond Spiders to stay close with the Rhode Island Rams, the Spiders fell short in the final four minutes and could not complete their comeback.
A last-second shot attempt from S. Jones from half court misses the mark. The Rams win 79-74.
After a slow first half offensively, the Richmond Spiders were able to ramp up the intensity in the second half to defeat the South Alabama Jaguars 65-54.
D. Taylor holds the ball in the final seconds of the game. The Spiders were able to pull out the win this evening over the South Alabama Jaguars 65-54. K. Anthony led the Spiders with 18 points. T.J. Cline scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Although the Robins Center wasn’t as rowdy as usual on Saturday, the Spiders were able to generate their energy on the defensive end and pull off a win over the Howard University Bison.
The Richmond Spiders out-toughed the Howard Bison this evening and won the first of four games in the Gothic Classic tournament 54-41. Despite the Howard run at the end of the first half, Richmond built a big enough lead to hold them off going into their respective locker rooms.
Anthony dribbles the clock out and Richmond wins 54-41. Jones led the Spiders with 11 points. Nelson-Ododa's presence on defense made it difficult for Howard to get any clear looks around the rim. This was not an offensively smooth game for either team, but Richmond was able to muscle its way to victory.
The Spiders were unable to hang on late and lost in a close game against the James Madison Dukes on Sunday.

After a dominating performance Saturday against High Point, the Richmond Spiders will play the North Carolina State Wolfpack in Raleigh this week.
The Richmond Spiders defeated the High Point Panthers 80-56 in the Robins Center Saturday afternoon. The team took the lead early and never gave it up. The Spiders played exceptionally well on both ends of the court for the full 40 minutes.
As the final buzzer sounds, the Richmond Spiders take the win over the High Point Panthers. The final score is 80-56. Almost every Richmond player made a difference in this game. Kendall Anthony scored a team-high 22 points and went 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
A torn ACL fueled Meaghan Carrigan, University of Richmond women’s soccer player and redshirt freshman, to train and learn on the sideline for a year before her debut season, during which she earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors and was named to the A-10 First Team.
